GIS based assessment of road traffic noise in and around of schools situated near busy roadside

This study was conducted of traffic noise which affected on urban selected roadside school as acoustic comfort for locations (near buildings) Burdwan town and the ambient recorded during four different time periods (early morning, late afternoon evening). Geographical Information System (GIS) based Inverse distance weighting (IDW) interpolating technique used to identify vulnerability pollution in mixed areas schools. The descriptor such Leq, L90, L50, L10, climate (NC), index (TNI) level (NPL) were evaluated, while a community also simultaneously conducted. results revealed that average L10 varied from 76.5 dB (A) 78.6 (A), 58.2 60 65.6 67.3 86.6 94.5 respectively. It observed reached its peak (35.7 ± (A)) lowest evening (27.8 (A)). health data indicated about 71% 8% inhabitants near schools suffering irritation sleeping problems similar correlation Leq (r = 0.484, p < 0.679), L90 0.871, 0.327), L50 0.507, 0.662) strongly correlated with sleep disturbance. may therefore be safely concluded children subject being exposed same levels hazard residents immediate vicinity probably problems.
